Women’s Intergenerational Living Legacy Organization (WILLO) is a community based organization with the belief of the power of story-telling. WILLO is creating an environment where women and girls can share and celebrate their stories.
Six women were featured at this event, sharing their personal stories, discussing their childhood and the journey that led them to be the amazing women they are today. The audience was captivated and so was I. Each year, I cover many events and it’s easy to fixate on the technical elements of photography but it was nearly impossible not to listen and connect in the raw emotion of their stories.
As these women shared their lives, we shared our laughs and tears with them. Their openness and honesty was surprising and humbling. What an inspiration to know where these women came from and to be the prominent women they are now. It’s truly awe-inspiring.
Guests were encouraged to write a message on fabric swatches that will later
be made into a quilt.
