A City that never sleeps — New York City.
Today we remember — 9/11/2001 — 12 years now. I’m sure all of us can remember where we were, what we were doing, who we were with that day, that morning. I sure do.
I was in college, getting ready for work when a phone call from my mom telling me to come home immediately because “world war 3 was about to start…” Seriously. That was the phone call I received. There was no calming her down so I knew I had to turn on the news for clarification. And there I sat in disbelief — breaking news, terrorist attacks, planes crashed into the World Trade Center.
And so today, we remember. We reflect. On the people, our families, our country, we stand united.
So take a step back and look around you. Look at the beauty all around you. Say hello, give a hi-five or just smile at your friends, family and strangers alike.
Here’s to the people. Never Forget. To the City that Never Sleeps, the city I frequent multiple times a year — New York City, and to my hometown Seattle.
Together, we stand.
