Meet Katie & Maitland. They’re from Idaho and were visiting Seattle, a city that they LOVE. They emailed me weeks before their session to capture and celebrate their 2nd year wedding anniversary on-camera. They wanted photos of Seattle and all its glory. As a Seattleite, I complain about the weather, traffic. etc and sometimes forget how great this city is. Spending the morning with K and M, I fell in love with them but also with Seattle all over again.
Whenever there’s an on-location shoot, I get a little nervous with Seattle’s weather — Will it rain? Will it be sunny? Too cold? Too hot? Too cloudy? Too muddy? Am I wearing the right shoes? Ahhhh… don’t get me wrong. I always do my homework. You can never be too prepared for Seattle weather, right?
Forecast for the day: cloudy with a chance of rain and some sun breaks. Translation, “Wear rain boots!” I did not want to take any chances since we had a places to go and sights to see.
First stop, Seattle Center / EMP.
What’s Seattle without the “Space Needle” shot? We had to take it.
And of course, with all the recent raves and reviews, what better place to end their day other than with The Seattle Great Wheel. The Great Wheel had only been open for days so we had to take advantage of this unique opportunity. The crew was kind enough to give us our own gondola and thank goodness they did. We took advantage of every space and angle!
Unofficial assessment: The Seattle Great Wheel is a must see!
And after two or so hours of photographs and being with me (three hours, if you count the wait time), Katie & Maitland didn’t run away from me (not even while I wore rain boots in no rain). I knew they weren’t sick of me since we grabbed some coffee at Starbucks to refresh ourselves and chatted away, off-camera, of course.
Katie & Maitland, thank you for spending your 2nd wedding anniversary with me and letting me capture such a perfect day.
Third wheel or not, I had a great time with both of you!
